“IL MERLO Bags” vi presenta le borse di pelle interamente fatte a mano a Firenze dall’artigiana giapponese Kyoko Morita. Combinando solidità, funzionalità e bellezza, ogni pezzo è progettato per armonizzarsi con la silhouette e per esaltare il fascino di chi le indossa. Le sue borse di alta qualità, cucite a mano punto per punto, vi riempiranno la vita di ogni giorno.
La nostra pelle proviene direttamente da storiche concerie toscane specializzate nella concia al vegetale. Queste concerie sono certificate LWG (Leather Working Group), il che ci permette di garantire un profondo impegno per l’ambiente e una tracciabilità affidabile.
Storia
2015: Partecipazione mostra del maestro Dimitri Villoresi.
2016-17: Corner temporaneo di lavorazione artigianale e vendita presso la Boutique Mimi Furaha.
2018-oggi: Apertura della bottega a Firenze
Negli anni, si annoverano anche le partecipazioni ad eventi di pregio come Artigianato e Palazzo (Firenze) e Umeda Hankyu Italia Fair (Osaka). Tra il 2018 e il 2023, IL MERLO Bags è stato anche TEMPORARY SHOP nelle città di Osaka, Kobe e Milano.
Artigiana-designer Kyoko Morita
È nata negli Stati Uniti e cresciuta a Nara, Giappone. Ha studiato product design e interior design presso l’Istituto di Tecnologia di Kyoto. Ha fatto esperienze di lavoro a Tokyo e Hong Kong in vari campi come i sistemi informatici, il design di negozi, l’industria del mobile ecc.
Si è spostata in Italia nell’autunno del 2013. Ha frequentato la Scuola del Cuoio a Firenze. In seguito ha studiato sotto l’artigiano fiorentino Dimitri Villoresi ed è rimasta colpita dalla sua idea di produrre borse di alta qualità senza usare nessuna macchina.
Nel 2015, ha fondato IL MERLO Bags.

“IL MERLO Bags” presents leather bags entirely hand-stitched in Florence by Japanese artisan Kyoko Morita. Combining durability, utility, and beauty, each piece is designed to harmonize with the wearer’s silhouette. These high-quality bags, crafted stitch by stitch, will warmly fill your everyday life.
Our leather is sourced directly from historic Tuscan tanneries specializing in vegetable-tanned leather. These tanneries are LWG (Leather Working Group) certified, allowing us to guarantee a profound commitment to the environment and reliable traceability.
History
2015: Three-person exhibition at Dimitri Villoresi’s studio.
2016-17: Production and sales in a corner of the Boutique Mimi Furaha.
2018-Present: Opened workshop in Florence
Also, participated in exhibitions such as Artigianato e Palazzo (Florence) and Umeda Hankyu Italy Fair (Osaka), and held temporary workshops in Osaka, Kobe, and Milan.
Artisan-Designer Kyoko Morita
Born in USA, brought up in Nara, Japan, Kyoko studied product design and interior design in Kyoto Institute of Technology.
She had working experiences in Tokyo and Hong Kong among various fields, such as information systems, store designs, furniture industries, and so on.
Moving to Italy in autumn of 2013, she first learned the skill of bag making at the traditional leather school, Scuola del Cuoio in Florence. She then studied under a Florentine artisan Dimitri Villoresi, who deeply inspired her with his idea of making high quality bags completely without any machinery.
In 2015, she launched IL MERLO Bags.

IL MERLO Bagsは、イタリアフィレンツェより、手縫いの革鞄をお届けします。強・用・美を兼ね備えた、シンプルで遊び心のあるかたち。ひと針ひと針、時間をかけて丁寧につくられた良質な鞄は、豊かな気持ちをもたらしてくれます。
私たちの革は、トスカーナの歴史あるタンナー（皮革製造業者）から直接仕入れた、ベジタブルタンニン鞣しの牛革です。これらのタンナーはすべて、環境に配慮した製品であることを証明する国際基準「LWG（レザー・ワーキング・グループ）」の認証を受けています。
沿革
2015年 Dimitri Villoresi工房にて3人展
2016-17年 ブティック Mimi Furaha の一角で、制作及び販売を開始
2018年-現在 フィレンツェ市内に工房を開設し、制作及び販売
その他、Artigianato e Palazzo (フィレンツェ)やうめだ阪急イタリアフェア(大阪)などへの出展、大阪・神戸・ミラノにて出張工房など
職人・デザイナー 森田 京子
米国生まれ、奈良県育ち。京都工芸繊維大学・大学院にて製品デザインおよび空間デザインを学ぶ。その後、IT関連、店舗デザイン、家具会社等、日本と香港で多様な仕事を経験する。
2013年秋、イタリアのフィレンツェに渡る。伝統的な革の学校Scuola del Cuoioで鞄作りを学んだ後、鞄職人Dimitri Villoresiに師事。良質の鞄を、機械を一切使わず手縫いで製作し提供するという方法に共感する。
2015年にIL MERLO Bagsを立ち上げる。
